The first seven rounds of the 2021-22 Premier League season are in the books, and it’s Chelsea who are top of the pile as we head into the October international break. Obviously, there are many more games to go (31 to be exact), so we’re barely a fifth of the way through the season, but it’s not a bad place to be at all — especially after what’s been a relative tough schedule.

It’s been a tight race at the top thus far, but all the rest of the top six dropped points this weekend, which means that we got full value out of our dramatic 3-1 win over Southampton. Manchester United and Everton played out a 1-1 draw yesterday, and while both Liverpool or Manchester City had a chance to go top, they ended up sharing the points at Anfield today in a scintillating 2-2 draw.

It was the perfect result from out perspective, while also providing some fantastic entertainment, including a goal of the season candidate from Mo Salah, which looked to be the winning goal until another former Chelsea player, Kevin De Bruyne equalized. Then Ruben Dias Rodri made an amazing block on Fabinho, who had an empty net to tap into, amid a frenetic final ten minutes that was truly edge of the seat stuff.

Too bad we now have to make do without proper football for two weeks.
