The lethal offense of the Kansas City Chiefs just got even more dangerous with the recent signing of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon. One guy who's pretty stoked with the addition is none other than Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs' new wideout is reportedly nearing a promotion to the active roster, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. With Kansas City scuffling a little bit, getting another weapon could be the spark they need to find their winning form again.

“He's a big receiver,” Mahomes told reporters this week. “Even if he's covered, he's not covered. You can kind of throw it up there and he can make plays.”

The talent Josh Gordon possesses has never been in question. He was a former All-Pro receiver back in 2013 and is still somehow just 30 years old. He has a lot left in the tank, just as long as he keeps his off-field issues at bay. Mahomes knows exactly what Gordon's addition means for Kansas City.

“Everywhere he’s been, he’s kind of dominated,” said the Chiefs star on Gordon. “It’s definitely exciting. He’s someone, like I said, who’s not covered when he’s covered. He can make plays in one-on-one coverage. I’m excited to have him here with us.”

“He’s a great football player, but I think you know in this offense, everybody gets a chance to make plays. The guys love competing and love getting out there to do what we can to win.”

Mahomes already has a couple of destructive targets in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce so Gordon will have to earn his opportunities. But the Chiefs QB knows the competition can only make them all better.
