Rather ominously, footballing superpower Real Madrid have apparently joined the chase with Premier League superclub Liverpool for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

While the palpable pull and lure of Barcelona and Real has decreased vastly in the last few years – culminating in the exits of the two best players in the world, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – the La Liga giants’ ambitions to rebuild may shock the football family.

Paradoxically, the fall of these two iconic Spanish sides in recent times will coincide with a destroy and rebuild ideology: completely changing squad dynamics and personnel over this and the next few seasons, with possibly fervent and costly spending which may again make Barca and los Blancos leaders on the most significant stage once more.

Basically they are both likely to try to buy the leading stars around Europe, and the Premier League will be their first port of call, surely. Leicester will have to tie down Youri Tielemans to a new deal to keep him; which he personally revealed he was reluctant to do, ensuring the Belgian’s options are as open as possible. Enter Madrid.

Leicester City face difficulties in retaining prominent asset

With Tielemans clearly contemplating his own future, the Foxes are right to be concerned over his intentions. Put yourself in the Belgium international’s shoes: Leicester have made a relatively awful beginning to 2021/22, not to mention the globe’s preeminent teams eyeing you up.

The Blue Army may not be ready to hear this – but Tielemans isn’t irreplaceable: he is a fairly uniquely talented, world-class midfielder, yet the east Midlands outfit has had similarly quality or midfielders as good overall before. Names such as Esteban Cambiasso and N’golo Kante suffice here.

Here is more on the rumoured interest from the Spaniards:
