Former Owensboro star Aric Holman is continuing to chase his professional basketball dreams, signing with the San Antonio Spurs after a stint in the NBA Summer League.

Holman led Owensboro High School to the Kentucky State Championship in 2015, the first title since 1980. After being a finalist for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball award he then made his way to Mississippi State University.

After graduating he earned a roster spot with the Los Angeles Lakers following the NBA Draft. He then made his way to the Texas Legends, the NBA G-League affiliate for the Dallas Mavericks, not long after.

Holman averaged 9.7 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game with the Legends, before taking the next step in his journey.

Following his stint with the Texas Legends, Holman went overseas to compete with the Ulm Big Men lineup in Germany.

It didn’t take long for Holman to make his way back to the NBA, joining the Boston Celtics for the 2021 NBA Summer League in August.

Holman averaged 5.0 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game during the summer, playing in five games.

While his play didn’t earn him a roster spot with the Celtics, Holman grabbed the attention of the Spurs and has signed a training camp deal.

The Spurs now have 20 players in total on their training camp roster and will have to cut the roster to 15 by Oct. 18.

Time will tell what is in store for Holman and his journey, but for now he will be working hard in training camp to earn a guaranteed contract with Spurs.
