Pre-Season Game #4: New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins Open Thread

After getting routed our of Prudential Center by the Devils last night, the Rangers are back in action 24 hours later to take on the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. New York defeated the Bruins 3-2 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, and the pair of Original Six rivals are set to square off once more tonight.

With a three day break before the Rangers next pre-season game, there will likely be a sizable amount of cuts following tonight’s game and before Wednesday night’s contest against the Islanders. As such, tonight will be the final opportunity to see a handful of veterans destined to spend the year in AHL Hartford, as well as some prospects that are fighting tooth and nail to hang around NHL camp as long as possible.

Player to Watch: Braden Schneider

Due to the asinine agreement made between the NHL, AHL, and CHL regarding junior eligible players who played in the AHL last season, it’s NHL or back to major juniors for Schneider. In spite of playing 75% of Hartford’s games last season (18/24), Schneider is not eligible to skate for Hartford again due to appearing in less than 20 AHL games during the 2020-21 campaign. With New York’s blue line group all but set, Schneider is likely headed back to WHL Brandon following tonight’s game. Use tonight as an opportunity to see him rocking a Blueshirt for the final time until next pre-season.

Enjoy the game!
