Many on the Left celebrated Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh testing positive for COVID-19 Thursday, with some jokingly recalling the justice’s contentious confirmation process.
Liberals have long voiced opposition to the justice, whom a handful of women accused of sexual misconduct despite his fervent denials. Several people took to Twitter to celebrate Friday’s COVID-19 diagnosis of Kavanaugh, who is fully vaccinated against the disease, with comedian Kate Willett writing the news marked “the only positive thing about Brett Kavanaugh.”

Comedian Steve Hofstetter apparently alluded to the Kavanaugh accusers, saying the justice “has no problem with something entering someone’s body without their permission.”

MSNBC writer Hayes Brown jokingly tweeted that the virus “angrily denies allegation that it ever assaulted Brett Kavanaugh’s immune system.”

A spokeswoman for the Supreme Court said Friday that Kavanaugh has no symptoms of the virus, and his wife and children all tested negative. Kavanaugh’s results came back positive after a routine test ahead of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s investiture ceremony, which he ended up missing as a result.

The Supreme Court will begin its term Monday with in-person sessions for the first time since the court switched to remote proceedings due to the pandemic. It is unclear whether Kavanaugh will attend. The justices had their first private meeting in person last Monday, before which all justices had tested negative for COVID-19.
