Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers are seemingly at a point of no turning back. He doesn't want to play for the franchise anymore and they've even refused to pay him a portion of his salary because he hasn't shown up to training camp. Simmons believes his time with the Sixers has run its course, but it appears that he might've not been a fit for the team at any point.

In a recent piece by Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, sources close to the situation dished the cold hard truth on this entire Simmons saga:

From the start, the Sixers and Simmons never felt like a perfect fit. Despite being a first-overall pick, this team was never really his squad. Some sources close to Simmons thought that became more apparent after the team hired Daryl Morey as president of basketball operations in November.

“This entire situation is not about Ben Simmons and the fans of Philly,” a source said. “It’s not about Ben Simmons being able to overcome the loss to the Hawks. It’s not any of that, and they know that. What is this? This is the relationship running its course. …. It’s never been smooth at all.”

Wow. Talk about a truth bomb. It's a bit hard to understand however because Sixers fans once loved the Aussie. After all, he was their second-best player behind Joel Embiid and a massive piece on both ends of the floor.

There is still a chance that Simmons reports to Philly and just deems himself as injured in order to get paid. But, it's inevitable that the 25-year-old is going to be traded. He's even willing to sit out the entire season until it happens. All good things come to an end and it's pretty clear that his time with the Sixers is likely over.
