As the standoff between the Philadelphia 76ers and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons wages on, the rest of the players on the team are beginning training camp. The 76ers have some big aspirations this season, as they still believe they can compete for a title even without Simmons in the fold.
They are holding out hope that Simmons will come back, similar to how things played out between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers this summer in the NFL. But, that seems unlikely, as it is being reported that Simmons is willing to hold out the entire season and forfeit his salary.
That puts the Philadelphia 76ers in a tough spot, as his value was already low courtesy of his performance in the NBA postseason. Philadelphia has a high asking price, and rightfully so, but if they are going to get a trade done, their price will have to come down slightly.
One of the main reasons things have boiled over is that Simmons wants to be the No. 1 option for a team. He thinks things have run their course when it comes to playing alongside Joel Embiid and doesn’t think the team has been built to have success with him on it.

It is something Joel Embiid was asked about at the start of training camp and he didn’t hold back when sharing his feelings.
Everything from that quote seems to be pretty accurate. The organization did everything it could to cater to Simmons, but it wasn’t resulting in wins on the court. So, they began adjusting things and it seems to have miffed Simmons.

In the full quote that Embiid shared, he said that it was borderline disrespectful to other guys on the team. He is right, as Simmons is essentially throwing everyone on the team under the bus but taking little to no responsibility himself for the situation that has developed.
At this point, it is best for both parties to part ways. This is an irreparable relationship and the sooner a conclusion is reached the better.
