'BEING A FATHER IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT'

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is expecting twins with Georgina Rodriguez, has explained how being a dad is a unique joy.

Whilst with Real Madrid, the Manchester United legend he told The Player's Tribune: "When you are a father, it is a completely different feeling. A feeling that I cannot describe.

"This is why my time in Madrid has been special. I have been a footballer, yes, but also a father.

"There is a moment with my son that I will always remember so clearly.

"When I think about it, I feel warm. It was the moment on the field after we won the last Champions League final in Cardiff. We made history that night.

"When I was on the pitch after the final whistle, it felt like I had sent a message to the world.

"But then my son came on the field to celebrate with me … and it was like the snap of a finger. Suddenly, the entire emotion changed.

"It is a joy that I did not understand until I was a father."

The 66-year-old, who suffered a life-threatening stroke last year, posted the twins’ ultrasounds on an Instagram Story around the same time along with an applause emoji.

The footballer’s two sisters have yet to react on social media, although Katia Aveiro showed earlier in the day her two children are big fans by posting footage of them playing football with their uncle’s number seven Man United shirt on.

She went on to post a selfie at the same beach with the father of the unborn child on the same beach, writing 'Miracle of life. We are waiting for you little one' in Spanish before adding in English: “We are waiting…our little angel.”

DONNY AND BAILLY WANT ANSWERS

Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly are seeking assurances over their futures after feeling exiled at Manchester United.

Van De Beek, 24, has started just four Premier League games since he arrived in a £35million switch from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and only one as sub this season.

This despite United crying out for some creativity in midfield.

And while the Red Devils leak goals like a sieve, Bailly has been rooted to the bench making just one appearance in the League Cup defeat to West Ham.

The 27-year-old was particularly angry not to start the away game at Leicester with Harry Maguire rushed back from injury after just one training session instead.

United would go on to lose the game 4-2 with Maguire having a stinker.

Captain Maguire’s form has gone with question marks over whether he has fully recovered from his calf injury.

It has left Ivory Coast star Bailly wondering why he was encouraged to sign a new contract last April keeping him at the club until 2024.

PAY DAY

It is thought the United boss still has the backing of the club's board.

It also claimed Solskjaer has been given three games to turn things around for the team who play Tottenham next.

The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to Old Trafford

And Germans sports outlet Fussball claim the player had signed a mandate with the aim of sealing a summer 2021 move from Bayern.

Spanish outlet AS claim the German club are desperate to sell the forward to avoid him leaving on a free transfer.

The player's contract is set to expire in June 2023.

LEFT BEHIND

John O'Shea has revealed how Manchester United's team bus once drove off to a hotel without him during his earliest days at the club.

And the moment was initiated by ex-United skipper Roy Keane in a bid to teach the former Red Devils midfielder to avoid being late.

O'Shea, 40, told United's web site: "I can see the bus moving and I’ve not parked the car yet, I’m nearly in. But then the bus is gone.

"So, I can see Roy and a few of the senior players and I’m thinking they’ve done me here.

"So, I’m panicking, thinking will I drive the car back? We were staying in Alderley Edge at the time, so I’m thinking what am I going to do here?

"Quick little panic and then I thought, right, I’ll leave the car here and get a taxi and I’ll still get to the hotel in time.

"Roy was teaching me a bit of a lesson there and, to be fair, it was my own fault. I should have known, prepared better, known the distance from the house."

STICK WITH SOL

Liverpool icon Ian Rush reckons Manchester United will keep faith with Ole Gunner Solksjaer and allow him to remain in his job.

However the Anfield hero believes that another Reds legend could be in contention for the Old Trafford chief's role.

Rush, 60, told Gambling.com: "I like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he’s a good guy, but sometimes good people don’t make the best managers.

"I think he deserves a little more time because you shouldn’t sack a manager unless you have a replacement lined up, and I’m not sure United have the ideal candidate in place.

"I think they’ll stick with Ole for now but the next few games will decide his future so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

“They’ve got Tottenham and Atalanta away and then Manchester City at home so it’s a tough run of games.

"I think (Brendan" Rodgers is an excellent manager but all indications are that he’s happy at Leicester and he’s building something really strong there."

MUST BOUNCE BACK

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his embattled Manchester United stars will reverse their fortunes on the pitch following losses to Leicester and Liverpool.

The Old Trafford gaffer is set to travel with his side to Tottenham with the club hoping for a victory in North London.

It has been reported that the next three games for United could potentially determine Solskjaer's managerial future at the club.

After the team's loss to Liverpool the Red Devils boss said: "Manchester United have had tough times, difficult times before and they have always bounced back and taken on challenges."

KANE CALL

Harry Kane is thought to have been a summer transfer target for Manchester United before Cristiano Ronaldo's sensational return.

Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet claims the Old Trafford giants ramped up their interest in the England skipper when reports of his hopes for a Tottenham exit went public back in August.

However it is thought that (like their Manchester City counterparts) United bigwigs were reluctant to pay Tottenham's £150million asking price for Kane.

VARANE BOOST

Raphael Varane has given Manchester United a boost by returning to training ahead of the team's game against Tottenham on Saturday.

The France centre-back was unavailable for United's clash with Liverpool last Sunday after injury his quad whilst on international duty.

The Red Devils summer has been seen taking part in training drills with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of United's match against Spurs.

MUST STEP UP

Louis Saha is urging Manchester United's stars to step up their performances on the pitch.

The former Red Devils striker, who spent four seasons at Old Trafford, reckons the team's big characters need to show leadership following the club's recent results.

Saha told Sky Sports: "I always look at the United side and think where things are going well and strong everything is perfect.

"I really think in some moments, especially those moments when there is a need of a big reaction, you need characters.

"You need those who take the leadership to show it."

JUVE'S POG MOVE

Paul Pogba's agent is reportedly set to hold meetings with management officials at Juventus amid speculation of a possible Turin move for the France star.

The Daily Express reports Mino Raiola is set to travel to Italy for talks with the club where Pogba enjoyed a successful four-year trophy winning spell.

The 2018 World Cup winner is entering the final year of his current contract with Manchester United.

The midfielder is yet to sign a new deal to extend his stay.

RON'S HARD WORK

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media to state that 'hard work is the only pathway to victory'.

The Portugal skipper shared the message on his Instagram page with the forward and his team-mates set to face Tottenham next in the Premier League.

And the club are hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 5-0 loss to Liverpool by defeating Spurs.

In his Instagram post Ronaldo includes a picture of himself doing leg muscle workouts.

And Ronaldo also wrote 'there are no shortcuts to glory. No pain, no gain!'.

HAALAND SNUB

Erling Haaland reportedly turned down a better offer from Manchester United to join Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway striker moved to the Bundesliga giants for £17million from Austrian outfit RB Salzburg in January 2020.

And he has been in top form in front of goal for Dortmund netting 70 times in 69 appearances.

According to German outlet Sport1 Dortmund's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said: "The offer from Manchester United was better.

"However, Mino Raiola (Haaland's agent) realised that Erling is better off with us."

CONTE'S KEEN

Antonio Conte is reportedly ready to say 'yes' to Manchester United chiefs should they offer him the club manager's job.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claims the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss would be happy to manage the Red Devils' top stars including Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.

Reports claim Manchester United's board are keeping faith with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for now.

It is thought the Old Trafford gaffer has been given the next three games to turn things around for his side.

RASH APOLOGY

Marcus Rashford says he was left "embarrassed" by Manchester United's 5-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

And the Red Devils and England forward says he and his team-mates are working hard to "try and fix" things for the club on the pitch.

"We’re working hard to try and fix this. We have to redeem ourselves."
