Former Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops reveals who he thinks is the biggest threat to the Sooners for the Big 12 title.

The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t always played like one of the best teams in the nation in the first month of the season, but they are still undefeated entering October.

Oklahoma is still a big favorite to win another Big 12 title, something they’ve made a habit out of for the better part of the century.

But with Spencer Rattler playing down to expectations, is there a chance some team could pull off an upset and unseat Oklahoma as Big 12 champs?

Former Oklahoma coach and current FOX college football analyst, Bob Stoops, believes there is one clear challenger to the Sooners.

Bob Stoops believes Texas is the biggest threat to Oklahoma in the Big 12

Speaking on today’s Big Noon Kickoff show, Stoops and the rest of the panel was asked who the biggest threat is to Oklahoma in the Big 12.

Iowa State was thought to be the biggest threat as the preseason No. 6 team but they’ve suffered a pair of early losses. Baylor and Oklahoma State are ranked but likely not to present a challenge to the Sooners this year.

Kansas State, their opponent today, has two straight wins over the Sooners.

But Stoops thinks it’s bitter rival Texas that poses the stiffest test to Oklahoma in the Big 12.

Steve Sarkisian going to quarterback Casey Thompson as the starter after benching Hudson Card has seemed to work for an offense that scored 70 points in their last game.

Oklahoma meets Texas next week in the Red River Rivalry so we won’t have to wait long to see if Stoops is right in his assessment.
