Dennis Schroder became the butt of every joke during the offseason after facing an ice-cold market for his services. He ended up settling for a $5.9 million deal with the Boston Celtics, adding even more fuel to flames against him on Twitter.

The Celtics guard was brutally honest on what he thinks about all the hoopla made about his drastic drop in salary demand. Schroder sent out a sound message for the seemingly endless hate he had received.

Via Ronald Agers of SLAM:

“That’s one thing,” said Schroder on Celtics media day. “But they wanted to talk, and at the end of the day, me and my agent decided not to sign that contract. At the end of the day, I feel like, for me personally, I gotta be comfortable in the environment I’m in.”

“Money is not everything,” continued the Celtics guard. “I want to be comfortable in a situation where I know people appreciate me. How all this stuff happened, you just gotta look forward and just to try to keep improving and try to show people what you’re capable of, and everything’s going to come back.”

Dennis Schroder definitely got the short end of the stick when it came down to the salary figure. His skill level and body of work probably deserve a much higher annual salary and more than just a year of guarantee he got from the Celtics.

But at the end of the day, money isn't the only measurement that matters. He's already made a ton of dough throughout his eight years so far in the NBA. If Dennis Schroder can take advantage of the opportunity at hand in Boston, then the money will eventually follow.
