MU Health Care and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri announced they will build a new Family Room in the new Children's Hospital and Birthing Center.
The family room is a place for families to relax while their children are being treated in the hospital.
The 1,272-square-foot room will be run by the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The room will have a full bathroom with a shower, laundry facilities, snacks, and coffee. There will also be two overnight sleeping rooms.
“Helping families stay together during their child’s medical crisis is a goal shared by University of Missouri Health Care,” said Jonathan Curtright, MU Health Care’s chief executive officer, in a press release. “As we build a new hospital tower and relocate Children’s Hospital and our birthing services to our centralized campus by summer 2024, we want to ensure the Ronald McDonald House will be able to offer a comfortable and spacious refuge for families inside the hospital.”
The Ronald McDonald House is also looking to sell its current building at 3501 Lansing Avenue.
