‘True Blood’ Gets Its Podcast Series From HBO Max

HBO Max is set to launch a podcast series, Truest Blood, via Deadline. The audio series focus on the popular vampire-themed drama , True Blood, which aired from 2008 to 2014 on HBO. Based on Charlaine Harris’ series of novels, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, the TV show has become one of the most successful vampire shows, winning one Emmy award, one Golden Globe award, and attracting millions of viewers.

Accordingly, Truest Blood will have actors of True Blood revisit the making of the TV show, and introduce more behind the scenes to fans. Deborah Ann Woll and Kristin Bauer van Straten, who played Jessica Hamby and Pam De Beaufort in True Blood, will join the podcast and reunite for the first time since the show ended seven years ago. Together, they will rewatch clips of the series, break down special effects, and interact with listeners of the podcast.

The podcast will be co-produced by HBO Max and Janina Gavankar’s Safe Haven Productions. Safe Haven Production produced Gavankar’s short film Stucco last year. Gavankar also played the role of Luna Garza in True Blood. She expressed her joy for the upcoming project: “I’m so happy that Safe Haven’s first podcast production allows me to re-explore a show that has meant so much to me, alongside Kristin and Deborah with whom I’ve had long friendships.” Gavankar, Straten, and Woll will all serve as executive producers of the audio series.

Truest Blood marks HBO Max’s follow-up look-back podcast since Band of Brothers. The release date of Truest Blood has yet to be disclosed.
