With a squad worth of approximately $1.16billion in transfer market value, choosing just one of Manchester City's players to sign is no simple task.

Many of City's rotational players, those that have to constantly fight for starting slots week in and week out, would star for the majority of clubs in Europe's top five leagues (see Bernardo Silva).

With that being said, Liverpool do not fall into said category, and are actually stronger in multiple positions on the pitch. Left-back, right-wing, and center-back are a few of the glaring spots in which Liverpool have the better players.

One of Man City's players would get into any starting eleven in the world, though, and that is Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The winner of the past two seasons' PFA Players' Player of the Year award, De Bruyne is considered by many to be the best midfielder in world football and would completely alter the complexion of Liverpool's squad.

An assist machine, De Bruyne provided 18 in 40 appearances in all competitions in 2020/21, and netted 10 goals. Known for his pinpoint crosses and deadly long-shots, De Bruyne's tireless work rates are an underappreciated facet of the Belgian's game and would make him a good fit for Klopp's counter-press system.

De Bruyne would also provide a creativity that Liverpool sometimes lack in midfield, as much of the Reds' offensive output is generated from wide areas of the pitch, more specifically from the full-back positions.

So, while players like Ruben Dias and Raheem Sterling would undoubtedly improve Liverpool's squad, none would do so to the degree that De Bruyne would, and none would better aid Liverpool in a specific area of need like the Belgian would.
