Goran Dragic’s tenure with the Toronto Raptors could not have gotten off to a worse start. Despite that, he could still be one of the better trade chips in the NBA as we head into the regular season.

Dragic was acquired by the Raptors as part of the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade. Lowry signed a three-year, $90 million deal with the Miami Heat and was subsequently traded there. Toronto received Dragic, Precious Achiuwa and a future second-round pick in the deal.

Upon being traded, Dragic shared some negative feelings about the deal. Toronto was not his preferred choice for his next team and he added that he has higher ambitions than to be playing for the possibly rebuilding Raptors.

Dragic apologized for what he said about the team, but that is certainly not how you want to start things off with a new organization. Especially when you may engage in buyout talks or help trade negotiations to a new team down the road.

For now, Dragic remains with the Raptors. But, it would not be surprising to see him on the move at some point. Unless Toronto is a surprise contender in the Eastern Conference, it would make sense to acquire future assets for the veteran point guard.

Several teams around the NBA could use him on their roster. Could the Denver Nuggets be a possible fit? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal between the Raptors and Nuggets that lands Dragic in The Mile High City.
