The Grammy Award-winning heavy rock quartet Mastodon has released their newest single “Teardrinker” along with an accompanying music video. The group’s new track comes from their upcoming album Hushed and Grim which is set to release this October.
The music video for “Teardrinker” shows the group entering a warehouse before being immersed in four mystical mini universes which subsequently feed tears to a greater being of sorts. Mastodon’s backing track further adds to the otherworldly visuals presenting melodic guitar riffs and tasteful fervent vocals every which way.
Additionally, their new single displays the expert songwriting of the group with the infectiously catchy and equally haunting hook of “I can see your face / And I feel the pain / And I feel the shame that I have let you down again / People everywhere / Not a drop to drink / Not a dare to think about the damage I have done.”
Mastodon’s musical evolution is taking place right before their fan’s eyes and “Teardrinker” exemplifies this statement.
Mastodon’s upcoming ninth studio album Hushed and Grim is their first full-length studio work in four years. The group announced the album back in September. Less than week later, the group announced their winter 2021 co-headlining tour with Opeth. The 15-show tour is set to begin in Asheville, North Carolina on November 16 and will conclude in Denver, Colorado on December 5.
