Judge Deborah Kaplan is set to take over as the deputy chief administrative judge for the New York City courts later this month, filling a high-level role that oversees the daily operation of trial courts in the city.

Kaplan, who works as the administrative judge of New York County Supreme Court’s civil term, will start in the new role on Oct. 9, the state court system said in a press release Friday.
