New Report Sheds More Light on the Galaxy S22 Release Date

Samsung is reportedly finalizing the design and specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S22 flagship. A report by The Elec (via) indicates that the phone could be released by January. Further, the report also shares some information on the production share of the lineup.

The entry-level Galaxy S22 will witness a 50-60% production share, whereas the Galaxy S22+ will only make up 20%. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, meanwhile, will reportedly take the rest of the production share. This is a change from the Galaxy S21+, which enjoyed a 30% production before its official release.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will bring back Samsung’s S Pen stylus

The Korean manufacturer has high hopes for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, given that it will mark the comeback of the S Pen. This has led to rumors that Samsung may want to add the ‘Note’ moniker to the variant.

However, we have now learned that Samsung will stick to calling it the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The inclusion of the S Pen stylus could potentially entice Galaxy Note enthusiasts as Samsung didn’t launch a Note flagship this year.

As is the case with any Samsung flagship, we’ve come across several leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S22 series. A recent report gave us an excellent idea of what to expect from the new phones in the battery department.

Samsung will reportedly use a 3,800mAh battery pack on the Galaxy S22. This would be a downgrade from the predecessor’s 4,000mAh unit. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22+ and the Ultra variants will use 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh batteries, respectively.

Although the next ‘Unpacked’ event is almost certainly taking place in January 2022, we’re yet to receive precise details on this front. Expectedly, there’s a lot of time left between now and then, so we will likely learn about the Galaxy S22 series in the weeks and months to come.

In one of the most significant design-related leaks so far, we recently learned that Samsung was still undecided on the rear camera housing for the Galaxy S22.

As for other hardware attributes, some variants of the Galaxy S22 will run on the Exynos 2200 chipset, while other models will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 SoC. The former has generated quite a lot of buzz already thanks to its GPU credentials, courtesy of AMD.
