A Minneapolis man has been reunited with his dog after his car was stolen and his pet was inside.

According to WCCO, Lucas Albers says he was running errands in Richfield Friday (September 24) when the incident happened. He stopped at Richfield liquor and as he was coming out of the store, a man jumped in his car and drove off with his dog Vic, a 50-pound black lab mix, inside.

Albers called OnStar and the location of his vehicle was reported to Richfield Police Department, but when authorities arrived, Vic was gone. "That's when it really hit home of where's my dog at," Albers told WCCO.

He searched for Vic by driving around the neighborhood and posting flyers. Luckily, on Sunday night (September 26), he received a call from a man in St. Paul telling him he had found Vic.

In an Instagram post made by Albers, he wrote that Vic is "in good health and good spirits." He also wrote a thank you to everyone who helped in finding Vic:

"Thank you to everyone as well as the Retrievers organization so very much for all your efforts in helping me get my buddy home to me. You really helped ease my mind with all the supportive messages and sharing of information to help aid in his recovery. This mission has been a success."
