Lera Lynn Coming to The Southgate House Revival

Thursday, October 7th, The Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY will host a performance by Indie-Americana singer-songwriter Lera Lynn, with a supporting set by Kentucky’s own Grayson Jenkins.

Lynn, best known for her turn on HBO’s True Detective, as well as her album of duets, Plays Well With Others, featuring John Paul White, Nicole Atkins, and Shovels & Rope, to name a few, brings her new body of work, On My Own, on the sort-of-post-pandemic road. A departure from the collaborative nature of Plays, Lynn’s latest found her in isolation; writing, recording, and performing the entire record, well, on her own. The result is a collection of songs, to quote Lynn herself, “what (her) own imagination sounded like” – in short, honest and real.

In support will be Grayson Jenkins. Jenkins, born in Muhlenberg County (yes, that Muhlenberg County) and now calling Lexington home, bring his own brand of raw, honest Americana (which is basically code for “country, but good”), punctuated by an earnestness that seems more fitting the well-worn grooves of some old country LP.

If you’re a fan of Americana, Indie singer-songwriter, or just old fashioned songcraft, check out this show.
