Karol Rosa: UFC Fight Night 193 win over Bethe Correia would boost me up to new level

Off to a hot start in her UFC career, Karol Rosa is set to face her most notable opponent to date.

Rosa (14-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) meets Bethe Correia (11-5-1 MMA, 5-5-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 193 on Saturday and although Correia is no longer ranked, Rosa sees a win over the former bantamweight title challenger propelling her to new heights.

“I used to watch Bethe’s fights before joining the UFC,” Rosa told MMA Junkie. “I always felt I’d face her. She’s experienced and has faced great opponents. She has a lot of heart – she never backs down. But everyone has their time. Now is mine. I’m confident we’ll have a great fight. I’m also confident that I’ll be the winner. I train hard to make that happen. I have faith in that. A win over Bethe Correia will boost me up to a whole new level.”

Training out of PRVT academy in Rio de Janeiro, alongside the likes of former UFC strawweight champion and flyweight contender Jessica Andrade, 26-year-old Rosa is confident she can become champion but is in no rush to fulfill her goal.

“I’m very happy to be on a five-win streak,” Rosa said. “It’s always great to win, especially in the UFC. I have three wins in the promotion. I’m in a good phase in my career. And my losses were learning experiences. They forced me to evolve. I’m more mature and confident with each bout in the promotion.”

She continued, “The goal is always to be among the best in the world. It’s in God’s hands. My head coach feels I have a good chance of becoming champion, but we’re not in a hurry. We’re taking it one step at a time. I’m happy with my development in the UFC. I’m sure that once I get into the top five, and hopefully get a title shot, I’ll be much more mature and experienced.”

UFC Fight Night 193 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.
