Prince William and Duchess Kate are working to ensure that their children have as normal an upbringing as possible.

According to People, the couple are aware of their three children's "different destinies" as young royals. While their oldest, Prince George, is set to follow his grandfather Prince Charles and father Prince William as heir to the throne, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will embark on their own journeys as members of the monarchy.

William and Kate prioritize being as present as possible with their family and often insist on doing school drop-offs, pickups, and nightly dinners together. The couple also want to encourage their children to discover their own interests outside of royal duties.

"William is working with Kate to help all their children develop what they find personally fulfilling," royal historian Robert Lacey wrote for this week's issue of People magazine.

Per Lacey, the Cambridges are centering their parenting approach on "stability," something William was unable to experience after the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, when he was only 15 years old.

"As royal parents, both Kate and William have focused on … working to ensure that all three of their children enjoy the peaceful childhood that eluded William and Harry," Lacey shared.

Brothers William and Prince Harry have certainly taken a different approach to royal life. While William has forged a highly public role, Harry has done the opposite, stepping away from senior royal duties entirely last year and relocating to California with his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Together, they are creating a life and careers financially independent from the royal institution.
