Ideas For A Los Angeles Staycation

As the pandemic drags on, more and more Santa Clarita residents are looking for ways to get out of the house without going too far. Most health organizations still discourage travel, even for those who are fully vaccinated. Therefore, if you are desperate to do something different from your typical day-in, day-out, you need to look for activities closer to home.

Fortunately, as one of the largest cities in the world, Los Angeles has plenty of adventure to offer. Here are some ideas for an exciting Los Angeles staycation, to keep you sane and satisfied for the rest of the year.

Canna-cation

California boasts a strong cannabis culture — so much so that many around the world travel to experience cannabis fresh from the source. You, too, can enjoy a cannabis-focused trip by devoting a few days to exploring L.A.’s cannabis offerings. There are various marijuana tours that will take you to the best cannabis shops in the city, and you can rent 420-friendly accommodations where you can consume your cannabis purchases in peace. Whether you are an experienced stoner or are new to this legal drug, you can at least see what Los Angeles dispensaries have to offer.

Wine-cation

Northern California has a strong reputation for producing some of the world’s best wines, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a good tipple or two to be found around L.A. If wine is your substance of choice, you can spend your time away from work enjoying wine tastings. Though you won’t find many vineyards in the heart of L.A., there are plenty of winemakers in surrounding cities, especially Paso Robles and Temecula. As with a canna-cation, you can join a tour that will take you to the best wineries around, or you can craft your own wine trail — as long as you don’t taste and drive.

Bar-cation

Some people are partial to specific types of alcohol, but others merely enjoy the environment of a good bar. Fortunately, Los Angeles is filled with some interesting and exciting nightlife to keep you partying all night every night of your vacation. Though much of Los Angeles’s bar scene has been irreparably affected by the pandemic, quite a few gems remain, to include Tramp Stamp Granny’s, The Roger Room, Club 90’s, Walt’s Bar and the Victorian. You can draft your own bar crawl with friends, or you follow a well-trodden bar path.

Park-cation

After staying closed for much longer than everyone anticipated, California’s amusement parks are back up and running. A park-cation is an excellent idea if you will have a few kids in tow on your staycation; all of you are likely in desperate need of some magic and some thrills. You should treat yourself with a day or two at your favorite parks, riding your favorite rides, indulging in your favorite treats and spending time with your favorite characters. For some parks, it is well worth becoming a season pass holder, so you can return for another park-cation sometime soon.

Pool

Pool-cation

Sure, you could go to the beach — but fighting crowds to lounge amidst garbage and get sand in everything you own might not be your idea of a good time. Instead, you might plan yourself a pool-cation, so you can soak up the last rays of the warm season in an area that is clean and catered. L.A. has quite a few outstanding hotel pools: Some have stunning views of the city; others have star-studded histories; and some are simply so large and inviting that you can’t pass them up. You can tour a few different pools during your trip using pool day passes, or you can stick by one that has it all.

Living in Santa Clarita, you don’t have to go far to find adventure. Just next door, L.A. has everything you could hope for in a fun and relaxing vacation, which means you don’t have to brave the airport or worry about getting COVID tested every other day. All you need for a successful staycation in L.A. is a firm vision of what you want to do — and Los Angeles will surely provide more than what you could possibly hope for.
