Although Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin 1.4.0 Title Update adds the Molten Tigrex Deviant from Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate into the game on September 30, unfortunately, Dreadking Rathalos release is delayed to October 7. Still, it’s not a bad idea to grab one of them first while waiting for the other to come out considering how strong Deviant monsters are. Then, let’s take a look at how you can obtain yourself a Molten Tigrex as a Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 – How To Get Molten Tigrex
To get a Molten Tigrex egg, you need to tackle the newly added “Co-Op Quest ★8 (Explore) Dragon Eggs” from the Quest Board. As its name implies, this is a quest where you go in with another Rider. If you start the quest alone though, a randomized AI Rider will instead tag along. Depending on which AI Rider partner you got, most of the time it’s much better to look for a reliable and real co-op partner instead.
Aside from a chance of getting a Molten Tigrex egg, all eggs in this quest contain Dragon element Monsties. If you’re looking to farm Dragon monsters like Deviljho or Stygian Zinogre, and you might also want to use a higher tier of Expedition Tickets to get better eggs during the quest. Don’t forget to apply the Finding Charm for an increased chance of getting rare Genes.
The “★8 (Explore) Dragon Eggs Co-Op Quest” will only be finished after you and your partner defeat Molten Tigrex in the last nest. Molten Tigrex itself is a Power-type monster that is weak against Water element attacks, and these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the ferocious Flying Beast:
- Head: Pierce
- Stomach: Blunt
- Legs: Blunt
For more details about its weakness, you can head over to our Monsters Weaknesses list guide. Once you beat it, you will get the materials to let you craft the Excello Armor+, containing Soul Kinship (XL), HtH Master (L), and Health Boost (L). If you need more materials, on October 7, the “★9 (Slay) Molten Tigrex” Quest and “★8 Sky-Rending Roar” Subquest will be added as well. Meanwhile, as a Monstie, Molten Tigrex will have unique skills called:
- Firepowder – Dust Gene (L), Level 1: Power type. Deals heavy Fire damage to all enemies. High chance to inflict Blastblight.
- Savage Roar – Savage Roar Gene (XL), Level 20: Power type. Deals medium non-Elemental damage to all enemies. Heavy chance for a Knockdown.
And that’s it, good luck on your hunts and ransacking monsters’ nests! Don’t forget to check our other guides on Fortnite, Genshin Impact, New World, and others. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
