Terrorism is a worldwide threat. No matter in any country—terrorism strikes fear with the masses. In Powder Keg, the Valentine’s Day and following day shootings in Copenhagen, Denmark, go down as dark days in the country’s history. The film as an all-star cast with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jakob Oftebro, Lars Brygmann, and Sonja Richter.
Here’s the official synopsis of Powder Keg (Krudttonden):
Based on true events. In an icy cold Europe, people are slowly moving on after the shocking terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo. In Copenhagen, the newly released criminal Omar has his own agenda. Meanwhile, filmmaker Finn, Jewish watchman Dan, and the worn-out action force officer Rico live their various everyday lives unaware of their common destiny. All of them are affected by a rapidly changing world while they try to make sense of their own, and too late realize that life changes in an instant, fast and merciless, leaving only one of them left to tell the story about the tragic attack that forever changed the country.
Ole Christian Madsen directed the film from a script written by Madsen and Lars Kristian Anderson.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with talented actor Lars Brygmann on the film. We talked about the attraction, his research, and how this story affected his country.
Lars Brygmann has an extensive career in film, television, theater, and is one of the most well-known directors in Denmark. In 1987, he graduated from the private acting school of Tsarens Hof. His breakthrough role came with the crime drama series Unit One from 2000 to 2004, in which he played the eccentric detective La Cour. In 2019, he appeared in Fahad Safinia’s The Professor and the Madman, opposite Mel Gibson and Sean Penn. Also the same year, he appeared in Ole Christian Madsen’s The Day We Die. In 2018, he appeared in a television mini-series naval drama Finding Home, comedy That Time of Year, and in Kursk opposite Lea Seydoux and Colin Firth. Other television and film credits included Smilla’s Sense of Snow, The Celebration, Stealing Rembrandt, Lulu & Leon, Borgen, and Happy Life.
