COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Cross Country will host its second home meet of the season on Friday, as the Tigers host 16 Division 1 schools in the Gans Creek Classic at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The men will compete in the 8k at 9:00 a.m. CT, and the women will begin the 6k at 9:45 a.m. CT followed by the opens at 10:30 a.m. CT and 11:15 a.m. CT, respectively.
Mizzou will run 26 athletes, 12 on the women's side and 14 on the men's. The men and women will compete against Midwestern foes and teams ranging from Florida to Nebraska. The Tigers will also have six total running unattached, two women and four men.
On the women's team, ten strong returners will be in the lineup on Friday. Included in the starters will be senior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England) who led the team to a third-place team finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in 2019 and placed 47th at the NCAA Championships in 2021. Both Reilly Revord (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Isabelle Christiansen (Oswego, Ill.) are coming off Top-20 finishes in Nashville (9/17) and are set to continue their streak on home turf. Additionally, outstanding freshman Allison Newman (Germantown, Tenn.) will take to the box for the Tigers after a strong 18:14.80 finish at the Commodore Classic.
The men's team will also feature 14 runners, including key returner and junior Marquette Wilhite (Warrensburg, Mo.), who placed 38th at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in 2019 and took 6th place in the men's 8k at the Commodore Classic. Newcomers Jacob Nicholson (Spokane, Wash.) and Royce Fisher (Grain Valley, Mo.) are also returning to Columbia from top-20 spots in Nashville, ready to perform at Gans Creek Friday.
In 2020, the last time this event was held, the Mizzou women finished in second place with 61 points, and the men finished first with 34 points. 16 schools will bring their teams to Columbia for the early races, and an additional 12 for the open races, marking the most teams that Mizzou has hosted in the Gans Creek Classic race.

Following the Gans Creek Classic, Mizzou will visit Wisconsin- Madison to compete in the Nuttycombe Invittational on Friday, Oct. 15 for the fourth meet of the season.
