VIRGINIA LEE THOMAS HUDNALL

Virginia Lee Thomas Hudnall, 91, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ginny was a devoted wife to Beverly, her late husband of 61 years. She was born in Washington, D.C., to Otis and Hazel Thomas. Ginny was raised on the family farm near Burgess and lived in the area her entire life. She was a graduate of Northumberland High School and Valedictorian of her graduating class. She was a lifelong member of Fairfields Baptist Church where she volunteered and served in several capacities, including as a trustee. Ginny’s greatest joy was her family, including all those who considered her a second mom. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, sweet disposition, and the kindness extended to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Hudnall, and her sister, Carolyn Sydnor. She is survived by her children, Beverly Simons (Richard), Brian Hudnall (Betty Warren), Karen Salmon (Danny); eight grandchildren, Melanie Rountrey (Adam), Ross Hudnall (Molly), Ashley Beckwith (Ed), Matthew Simons (Elizabeth), Michael Simons (fiancée, Shaleni), Blake Salmon, Haley Salmon, and Kayla Salmon; five great-grandchildren, River Rountrey, Vance Rountrey, Evie Hudnall, Henry Beckwith, and Charlie Beckwith; sisters-in-law, Norma Tapscott and Margaret Ann Miller (Stephen), and many extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at Currie Funeral Home, 116 East Church Street, Kilmarnock, Va., at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, with visitation immediately preceding from 2-3 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, interment will be held at Mila Community Cemetery in Mila. The family wishes to thank the staff at Heron Cove 2, Sanders Retirement Village in Gloucester, Va., for their loving care and commitment.
