On Sept. 24, Wautoma Police Officers were dispatched to Evergreen Street in the City of Wautoma in reference to an armed individual damaging property and threatening to set fire to a residence. The individual was identified as Billy Joe Sweatt and officers learned Sweatt had an active warrant for FTA-Illegal Use of Credit Car (Winnebago County).
Sweatt was located and fled from officers. Officers were able to out run Sweatt and apprehended him in a nearby backyard. One officer received minor injuries during the arrest. Sweatt was not armed when placed under arrest.
The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this arrest. As a result of the arrest, Billy Joe Sweatt was detained at the Waushara county Jail on pending charges of FRA Warrant – Illegal Use of Credit Card, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
