Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert has a stress fracture in his lower back, but could be healed in time for the start of the NBA season, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The Pacers open the 2021-22 campaign on Oct. 20 in Charlotte.

The back injury is the most recent health woe for the 27-year-old LeVert.

The Pacers acquired LeVert on Jan. 21 as part of the four-team trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. A physical taken at the time of the deal revealed a small mass on his left kidney, and he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. Surgery followed, and he made his debut with the Pacers on March 13.

The 6-foot-6 LeVert played in 35 games (all starts) with the Pacers and averaged 20.7 points, 4.9 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game.

The No. 20 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, LeVert is entering his sixth NBA season. In 260 games (131 starts), he has averages of 14.1 points, 3.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds.
