Utica, N.Y. – A Utica man, who is a registered violent sex offender, was arrested on child pornography charges Monday.
John Seiselmyer, 49, was charged with having videos of child pornography on his home computer, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District.
In 2007, Seiselmyer was convicted of a first-degree criminal sexual act with a victim who was less than 11 years old, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The victim was 3-year-old boy, according to state records.
Seiselmyer was released from prison in April 2014.
This most recent charge could carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 20 years according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Seiselmyer has been detained while he awaits further court appearances, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
This case is being investigated by the FBI Syracuse Mid-State Child Exploitation Task Force, which is comprised of FBI agents and investigators from the New York State Police.
