A driver from The Woodlands has surrendered in Polk County on charges linked to a hit-and-run crash that killed a high school student after a Livingston High School football game Friday night, September 24, according to Steve W Stewart with our media partner, KJAS.
He says that PolkCountyToday.com reports that 18-year-old Cole Overstreet was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup truck on a highway just southwest of Livingston when the driver of a 2016 Dodge pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with Overstreet’s truck.
Overstreet died at the scene. Law enforcement officers say the driver of the truck that hit him ran away from the scene.
On Monday afternoon, officials in Polk County said 40-year-old Roy Grant Wagner of The Woodlands was their suspect and he turned himself in at the Polk County Jail and was booked in.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has charged him with Failure to Stop and Render Aid Resulting in Death, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Possession of Marijuana.
