‘Andor’: Diego Luna Teases “Familiar Faces” Showing Up In His ‘Star Wars’ Series

Lucasfilm sure does love its cameos, right? Especially in the Disney era of the “Star Wars” franchise, it’s pretty common to see fan-favorite characters show up in films and TV series just to get that momentary squee reaction from viewers. Well, you’d probably be shocked to know that is likely going to continue with the upcoming “AndorDisney+ series.

Speaking to Deadline, Diego Luna, the star of the upcoming “Andor,” didn’t talk too much about what fans can expect with his upcoming live-action “Star Wars” series. However, he did reveal that there will probably be some cameos that will get fans excited.

“You’ll definitely see familiar faces,” Luna teased.

While Luna isn’t going to reveal who the “familiar faces” are that will show up (here’s hoping it’s Jar Jar Binks…), the actor is excited by the fact that he doesn’t have to worry about spoiling the ending of the show because we all know Cassian Andor’s fate in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

“I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen [‘Rogue One’] already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.”

So, we know Andor will eventually die and this prequel isn’t going to have some shocking “he survived the blast and we didn’t even know it!” ending. With that known, the only real surprises that will likely shock fans and send the internet into overdrive are the cameos. Since Lucasfilm has shown a real penchant for peppering in “Star Wars” cameos throughout the first two seasons of “The Mandalorian,” who knows who we might see in “Andor?”

Okay, easy money is on some of the ‘Rogue One’ crew. I’d put 100% certainty on K-2SO showing up (even though Alan Tudyk has said otherwise). That seems too easy. Obviously, the big three that people would lose their mind seeing are Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, and Donnie Yen. And honestly, if Luke Skywalker can show up in ‘Mandalorian,’ you can’t put it past Lucasfilm to include any of those people.

Either way, “Star Wars” fans are going to eat up “Andor.” It’s a spinoff of what a lot of fans would consider the best film in the Disney era of Lucasfilm featuring a character that we don’t already know everything about. Seems like an easy sell. “Andor” is expected to debut in 2022.
