Whether virtually or in person, several Maynard and Stow residents will lace up their running shoes in October to raise money for children and families seeking treatment at two Boston hospitals.

Christopher Fisher and Cindy Zattich, both of Maynard, will join Stow residents Don Anderson, John Ballas, Michelle Ballas, Tye Morancy, and Elizabeth “Tina” Tepper, and thousands of other walkers, on Oct. 3 for the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way, presented by Hyundai. Money they raise will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Boston Marathon will take place Oct. 10 this year.

Typically, the walk follows the Boston Marathon route, but because of the pandemic, walkers are encouraged to choose their own route. Participants are encouraged to walk from wherever they are most comfortable – their neighborhood, a favorite trail, their own backyard, or even a treadmill in their own home.

The event has raised more than $150 million for Dana-Farber in its more than 30-year history.

Supporting Boston Children's Hospital

David Frost, of Maynard, will run the Boston Marathon route for Boston Children’s Hospital Miles for Miracles team, on Oct. 10.

The hospital is near and dear to Frost’s heart, who said he was treated there in 1995, at the age of 3, after doctors found a blood clot on his brain. He made a full recovery and is running to donate money back to the place he credits with saving his life.

“I’ve been paired with a patient-partner who helps motivate me during my long training runs,” he said.

Frost hopes to raise $12,000 for the hospital. To donate visit secure.childrenshospital.org.
