Man arrested after nearly three-hour standoff in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. —
The Battle Creek Police Department Emergency Response Team surrounded a home on Fremont Street after a report of an assault.

Battle Creek police were sent to a home on the corner of Fremont Street and Calhoun Street just after 7:30 p.m. Monday after a report of an assault between a man and a woman.
The woman was sent to the hospital for minor injuries.
The man refused to leave the house, but negotiators were able to talk him out, according to police.

The man was arrested on a felony assault charge just before 10 p.m. after coming out of a house, police said.
