STARS OF THE DAY

George Psichopaidas, Old Rochester

The sophomore enjoyed quite the birthday, scoring four goals to power the Bulldogs past Seekonk.

Nico Ferreira, Bishop Stang

Ferreira scored a hat trick as the Spartans beat Matignon for their third win. 

Jenna Medeiros, Wareham

Medeiros, an eighth grader, saved a penalty kick in the second half to help the Vikings secure their third win of the season.

Alannah Paiva, GNB Voc-Tech

Paiva scored both goals to power the Bears to their second win of the season.

Ella Soutter, Old Rochester

Soutter had a monster day serving, going 27 of 28 for 24 points, including 10 aces. She also had six kills and was 12 of 13 passing.

Alec Marsden, Old Rochester

Marsden led the undefeated Bulldogs past Fairhaven by shooting a 40 at Whaling City Golf Course.

BOYS SOCCER

Old Rochester 5, Seekonk 2

Sophomore George Psichopaidas scored four goals on his birthday for ORR. Senior captain Brett Smith scored his first goal of the season. Junior Matt Carvalho had two assists. Senior George Barry and Wilson Coucci played well in the midfield for the Bulldogs. Juniors Ryan Blanchette and Will Correia were strong on defense. ORR (5-1-1, 1-1-1 SCC) hosts Somerset Berkley on Wednesday. 

Wareham 4, Avon 1

Ryker King led the Vikings with two goals while Nate Wiley and Ben Brogioli each had one. Freddie Rosen made four saves in net. Wareham (6-1-1) hosts Bourne on Wednesday. 

Bishop Stang 7, Matignon 0

Nico Ferreira led the way with three goals while Noah Carreiro, Carter Dennis, Mason DeAlmeida, and Pedro Conceicao each added a goal. Chris Pacheco had his second consecutive shutout in net. The Spartans (3-4, 3-3 CCL) host Fairhaven on Friday.

Bristol-Plymouth 3, Old Colony 0

Jaryd Dosanjos and Chris Hedlund were solid in the loss for the Cougars (1-5-0, 0-2-0 Mayflower).

GIRLS SOCCER

Old Rochester 6, Seekonk 1

Maddie Wright and Liz Feeney each scored two goals while Jen Williams had a goal and an assist. Audrey Thomas (goal), Mia Hall (assist), Tess Adams (assist) and Emma Wyman (assist) also contributed. The Bulldogs (4-1-2, 2-0-1 SCC) visit Somerset Berkley on Wednesday. 

Wareham 4, Avon 3

Eighth grade goalie Jenna Medeiros saved a penalty kick in the second half to allow Wareham to retain the lead for the Vikings’ third win of the season. Sophomore Brooklyn Bindas scored two goals while Seniors Olivia Powers and Laura Pinkston each netted one. Eight grader Jocelyn Medeiros provided two assists while senior Kathryn Young had one. Wareham (3-4-1) hosts Bourne on Thursday. 

GNB Voc-Tech 2, Case 0

Alannah Paiva scored both goals to power the Bears to their second win of the season. Gracie Maloney took charge at center midfield all game. Jordan Young made a goal-saving play on defense. GNB Voc-Tech (2-4, 0-3 SCC) visits Seekonk on Wednesday. 

Fairhaven 1, Somerset Berkley 1

Liza Pinette scored from an assist from Ava Fernandes while Sadie Hubert, Tenley Dakin,  Lauren Bernardo and goalie Sara Reis were also solid. The Blue Devils (3-2-1, 2-0 SCC) visit Case on Wednesday. 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Apponequet 3, Wareham 1

Lacie Nolin was strong with the service line in a 25-15, 25-20, 19-25, 25-10 win as she had 18 points, including 11 aces. Mia Comeau added 15 service points with six aces and nine assists while Haley Monast contributed a team-high six kills to go along with four aces and eight service points. The Lakers (3-4) host Dighton-Rehoboth on Wednesday. 

Fairhaven 3, Somerset Berkley 0

The Thomas sisters helped deliver a 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 win as Lily served 20 of 21 with three aces and had three kills and three digs while Abby was 17 of 19 attack with a team-high eight kills. Rylee Botelho (14 of 14 serving with one ace, one kill, three digs and 28 assists), Kate Magalhaes (six kills on 10 attempts) and Shealynn Dorschied (10 of 12 serving with three aces, 10 digs and 11 service receptions) also contributed. The Blue Devils (4-2, 3-1 SCC) visit Case on Wednesday.

Maggie Brogioli led the Bulldogs with nine kills (.636 hitting %) while Sally Butler had five kills on seven attempts (.714 hitting %). ORR (5-2, 3-0 SCC) visits Somerset Berkley on Wednesday. 

Bristol-Plymouth 3, Old Colony 0

Mary Quinn was 7 for 8 at the net with three kills for Old Colony while Kayla Eldridge had eight service points and four aces and Allison Bumpus had five service points and four aces. Samantha Tavares added three assists, two digs and three aces. The Cougars host Norfolk Aggie on Wednesday. 

FIELD HOCKEY

Dartmouth 4, Old Rochester 0

Dartmouth’s Lily Gioiosa had six saves in the game for the shutout. Grace Haskell had two goals, Samantha Souza had a goal and an assist and Nicole Sylvain scored the fourth goal. Emma Tetrault also had an assist on Sam Souza’s goal. Dartmouth (6-0-1, 2-0 Southeast Conference) hosts New Bedford on Wednesday at 4 p.m. 

CROSS COUNTRY

Frank Kelley Invitational

Andrew Caldera ran 16:55 on a hilly course and placed 18 out of 236 runners in the open 5k race at the Frank Kelley Invitational as Stang finished 11th out of 29 teams. John Campbell was 92nd and ran 18:13 while Andrew Weaver ran 18:32 for 106th place. Julia Pelczarski ran 23:07 and Rebecca Antonio ran 25:18. Stang faces Dartmouth on Wednesday. 

GOLF

Old Rochester 254, Fairhaven 287 

Alec Marsden led the undefeated Bulldogs (6-0, 6-0 SCC) by shooting a 40 at Whaling City Golf Course. Braden Yeomans (42), Markus Pierre (42) also contributed for ORR.  Leading the way for Fairhaven (7-2, 5-2 SCC) were Calvin Downing (40), Jack Boucher (45) and Savannah Jones (47). 

Dartmouth 120, Durfee 87

Keegan Humason and Luke Medeiros each shot 41 for 23 points for Dartmouth (5-2, 4-1 SEC) at Fall River Country Club. Chase Guilherme shot a 42 while Connor Murphy shot 45.

Diman 8, GNB Voc-Tech 1

Ben Alves and Charlie Fernandes both halved their matches for the Bears (0-9, 0-6 SCC) at Swansea Country Club. Savannah Mongie carded the low round of 47.

Dighton-Rehoboth 236, New Bedford 313

Matthew Tarpey and Diego Serra each shot 46s to lead the Whalers (4-9, 2-2 SEC). Craig Baptista (53), Jordan Graham (56), Jonathan Lawrence (56) and Luke Tarpey (56) also contributed.
