City leaders, police officers and those a part of the Grove Street community gathered for an action walk on Monday.
Organizer Ladarius Price says change needs to start in the communities first regarding gun violence if the city wants to make progress.
"At some point enough has to be enough," said Ladarius Price.
A walk at the Westside Community Center to demand and end to continuous gun violence in Chattanooga.
"We want to see a change, we want to see the needle move when it comes to gun violence that were seeing in so many of our communities," said Price
Organizer Ladarius Price was driven to create the walk after he lost two students out of the seven shot on Grove Street Saturday.
"Its not something that's normal especially the way that our kids were taken away," said Price.
Sergeant Jason Holmes with CPD gave a speech at the event and said that communities are becoming desensitized to the violence.
"A lot times in our community shootings happen things just go right back to normal the very next day, enough is enough," said Holmes.
Shawanna Brown the Grandmother of Keniqua Hughes who passed wants change to start from the city.
"And I think the mayor need to step up and you need to come to the table, and they need to take care of this, because this is not right," said Brown.
To spark change in the neighborhoods stricken with violence Price says city leaders need to get acquainted with the youth.
"Its about them knowing us and us knowing them. And for them to know that if they were getting into a situation or somethings happening I know who I can call," said Price.
And in order for change to happen Ladarius says, "We are going to be consistent if it requires us coming out here week after week."
In response to the shootings Mayor Kelly released a statement saying, "Gun violence is a public safety and public health crisis that wreaks havoc on too many of our residents' lives-we will address it head-on and with urgency."
CPD records show the city is on pace to have nearly 30 homicides and have double the number of shootings from 2 years ago.
