Leo Giusti, age 96, a lifelong resident of East Providence, died September 23, 2021.

In 1943, Leo left high school and joined the US Army to proudly serve our country during WWII. He was a field lineman and hung communication lines from Marseilles, France to Witzenhausen, Germany. He saw active battle with the enemy in campaigns in the Rhineland and in Central Europe. His overseas experiences were valued lessons that he retained along with a deep sense of purpose and duty throughout his life.

Leo met and married the love of his life, Olive “Dolly” (DellaValle) Giusti in 1949. They lived a modest life made full by their faith and commitment to family and each other. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and worked as a silversmith at Gorham Manufacturing for 37 years.

Leo was very athletic even in his later years, enjoying swimming and fishing in the summer, and during the winter he hunted with his friends. He was a regular on the Point Judith fishing scene well into his 90’s.

He is survived by his daughters, Carol Giusti and Lisa Giusti both of Barrington, his nephews, Philip Ricci and wife Elizabeth of East Providence, Robert Ricci and wife Deborah of Chandler, Arizona, Raymond Altomari of East Providence, two grandchildren Christopher Brennan and Kyle Brennan, two great-grandchildren and son-in-law Dennis Brennan.

Leo joins many loved ones who preceded him into the arms of God, his wife Olive, his daughter Gail, his parents Palmiro Giusti, Maria (Cipolli) Giusti, his sisters Marcella Regine and Gloria Haley.

Calling Hours will be on Thursday morning from 8:15-9:15 am at the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., East Providence.
