Kilwins officially opened its doors on the Square in Georgetown at 120 W. Eighth St., Georgetown, Sept. 27.

Kilwins is a confectionary that has locations throughout the country and sells handmade fudge, brittle, caramel corn, chocolate and original recipe ice cream.

The new Georgetown location is locally owned by veteran Amber Kurkowski and long-time resident Michelle Baran.

According to their website, Kurkowski served two tours in Iraq after attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and also served as a military police officer. Baran has lived in Georgetown since middle school and is a graduate of both Georgetown High School and Southwestern University.
