9-28-21 masking implemented at fdl elementary school

Masking has been implemented at one elementary school and in some classrooms in the Fond du Lac School Disttrict as COVID-19 cases continue to spread in the District.   Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig told WFDL news as of Friday there were 67 active cases in the District.   Dr. Fleig says a masking requirement is in place at Roberts Elementary School.  Dr. Fleig says  Riverside and Waters Elementary Schools have masking at certain grade levels.   Dr. Fleig says one of the barriers right now is a lack of access to testing.   He says currently testing is only available at Riverside and Parkside Elementary Schools.  “When students come down with symptoms they either have to sit out for ten days or they have to obtain a negative test,”  Fleig told WFDL news.  “…what we found is that there is a lack of access to testing because so many people are getting tested right now.”   Fleig says he hopes testing will be available in more schools  throughout the week.  Overall Dr. Fleig says he is concerned with the COVID-19 numbers in the District.  “We have told students and staff do not come to work sick.  There are some challenges we are having staffing our buildings right now.”
