JNC recommends candidates for new Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Judge

In August the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) for the State of Georgia, established by Executive Order of Governor Brian P. Kemp, engaged in the process of receiving names of persons to fill a new judgeship on the Superior Court of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, which was created by Act 493 (House Bill 786). The nomination period ended on September 3, 2021.

The Commission's charge was to narrow the list of nominees and recommend to the Governor a short list from those applicants interviewed and found to be “qualified” or “well qualified” for this position.

On September 21, 2021 the Judicial Nominating Commission submitted to Governor Kemp recommendations to fill a vacancy within the Superior Court of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. 

This is a new judgeship which was created by Act 493 (House Bill 786) during the 2020 session of the Georgia General Assembly.  Governor Kemp will fill the vacancy from among the list.  The Governor’s Office will contact candidates to schedule interviews.

There is no timeline for when Governor Kemp may make the appointment.

The successful candidate will join three other Ogeechee Circuit Judges, Judge Gates Peed, Judge Michael Muldrew and Judge Lovett Bennett.

The Ogeechee Judicial Circutcovers Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins and Screven Counties.
