Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Amazon Studios greenlit a spinoff to its series The Boys on Monday. The spinoff, first announced in Sept. 2020, is still untitled.

Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Shane Paul McGhie, Aimee Carrero, Reina Hardesty and Maddie Phillips have been cast as young superheroes attending superhero college. Amazon will announce more cast members in the future.

Marvel's Agent Carter showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters will show run and executive produce the spinoff. The Boys EPs Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr remain EPs of the spinoff.

Amazon describes the spinoff as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities."

Based on the Garth Ennis comic book, The Boys depicts a world in which superheroes abuse their powers and make life worse for regular humans. Kripke promised another superhero satire with the spinoff.

"It's our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes," Kripke said in a statement. "Also, Baywatch Nights spun-off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!"

The Boys has filmed a third season, with Jensen Ackles and Laurie Holden joining the cast. Amazon has not set a premiere date for season 3 or for the spinoff to air.
