Newly reported coronavirus cases in North Carolina dipped sharply in Monday’s report but the percentage of hospitalized patients on a ventilator was up by two percent compared to the end-of-the-week numbers reposted on Friday.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services data shows 2,665 new cases on Monday and nine percent of the daily coronavirus tests returned positive.
State health officials said there are currently 3,012 people hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19, 870 in the intensive care unit and 21 percent of them are on a ventilator.
Over the course of the pandemic, there have been 16,108 deaths, 127 more than the most recent report on Friday.
NCDHHS said 69 percent of adults in North Carolina have had at least one shot and 64 percent are fully vaccinated.
