Houston’s swap of draft picks with the Brooklyn Nets earlier has made it clear that the up-and-coming team is going big-game hunting this summer. It gives general manager Rafael Stone and Co. more flexibility to pull off a blockbuster trade.

Immediately after the Rockets’ deal with Brooklyn, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Durant was a target. He quickly back-tracked. But it’s as clear as day that the Rockets are going big-game hunting.

As for whether the Phoenix Suns are willing to trade KD, they are pushing back against that idea publicly after hiring Mike Budenholzer. But as we all know, star players can push their own agenda.

    • Chris Paul is also being bandied about in NBA trade rumors. Golden State boasts a $30 million option on his contract, with a deadline for late June. He could push back said option to help facilitate a trade. That $30 million could prove to be valuable for the Dubs.
    • Meanwhile, chances of the Warriors trading Andrew Wiggins have increased since the 2023-24 season ended. Whether it’s for someone like the aforementioned Paul George remains to be seen.

As mentioned above, reports indicate that George could opt into his $48.79 million contract for next season and request a trade. He’s said to be looking for a four-year contract, with the Clips offering up just three years.

Even before those reports broke, the Philadelphia 76ers were linked to George heading into NBA free agency. They are joined by the aforementioned Golden State Warriors as teams most linked to George.

Ever since Miami and Philadelphia both saw their season comes to an end in the first round of the playoffs, NBA trade rumors continue to pop up surrounding the two. Heat front office head Pat Riley fanned the flames of a potential Jimmy Butler trade by criticizing him after losing to the Celtics.

All the while, Philadelphia has been linked to wings heading into the offseason. Daryl Morey and Co. want to find a third star to team up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. If the 76ers are unable to land Paul George. Butler becomes a real option in a trade with Miami . Butler suited up with Philadelphia back in 2018-19.

A look in on Donovan Mitchell trade rumors

    Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst noted after the Cleveland Cavaliers’ exit in the Eastern Conference Semifinals that Mitchell has as much control over his organization than any star player in the NBA. All of this comes amid growing rumors that the Cavs will look to move Mitchell this offseason rather than face the possibility of losing him for nothing in free agency during the summer of 2025.

Mitchell, 27, continues to act as one of the better guards in the NBA. This past regular season saw him average 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists on 37% shooting from three-point range. Mitchell has primarily been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers on the trade block. But teams such as the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors will likely put in a call if he’s actually put on the market.

It is somewhat surprising how the mighty have fallen. Just a couple years ago, Trae Young was considered one of the top young guards in the NBA. Now, he might not even be as valuable as an Atlanta Hawks teammate. NBA trade rumors suggest that teams value Dejounte Murray over Young when it comes to a potential trade.

A lot of this is financial. Young is playing under a five-year, $215.16 million contract while Murray is locked in at $114.07 million over four years. In today’s NBA salary cap era, finances certainly play a role for teams.

With LeBron James likely to opt out of his contract , the Lakers are facing a critical summer. Sure, he’ll re-sign with the team this summer (that’s common logic). But after a first-round exit in the NBA Playoffs, Los Angeles’ brass must prove it to King James that the team is willing to compete. That’s especially true after the risky JJ Redick hiring.

It’s in this that we’ve read several NBA trade rumors pertaining to the Lakers. The Athletic’s Jovan Buha reports that the Lakers will target three All-Star guards this summer. Trae Young, Dejounte Murray and Donovan Mitchell are the three biggest names being linked to Los Angeles. Darius Garland is also an underrated possibility.

We continue to hear NBA trade rumors relating to this underrated three-and-D wing. Ingram and his Pelicans are coming off a first-round exit in the playoffs. Front office head David Griffin has noted that the roster will change this summer. Meanwhile, New Orleans is pushing back against offering up the max to Ingram heading into the summer. All of this seems to suggest that he’ll be dealt. It could come as soon as the NBA Draft on Wednesday .

    • The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly willing to trade four players. That includes D’Angelo Russell should he opt into his contract. Though, Los Angeles is not looking to move on from guard Austin Reaves. The team’s brass seemingly values him as a core piece moving forward.
    • The Chicago Bulls asking price in a Zach LaVine trade has been greatly reduced after an injury-plagued 2023-24 season. Bulls insider K.C. Johnson went as far to indicate that he senses both sides are motivated to get a deal done this summer. LaVine’s contract ($137 million over next three seasons) leads many to believe that Chicago will have to sell him off for pennies on the dollar.
    • The Houston Rockets are reportedly auctioning off the No. 3 pick in this year’s NBA Draft to the highest bidder. The up-and-coming team wants to add an All-Star caliber player to its core group.
    • The Los Angeles Clippers could very well target Chicago Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade if they lose Paul George. How a deal might look .
    • It’s looking more and more like the Utah Jazz will be big-game hunting on the NBA trade block. Owner Ryan Smith is pushing for the brass to add an All-Star to the mix. Here, we look at three options .
