Holy Family Catholic Schools announced on Monday it's the recipient of a $750,000 Investing in Iowa Child Care grant.
The grant was awarded to Holy Ghost Early Childhood.
The money will go towards improving the existing facility and expanding services to help meet the community's demand for quality childcare in Dubuque’s North End neighborhood.
Holy Family says the ICC grant will allow them to begin the first phase of renovations, while they work on securing more grant money to complete this major project.
Construction will begin in mid-October 2021, with plans for completion of the IICC-funded portion of the project by the end of February 2022.
When complete, the renovation will increase the center’s capacity to serve an additional 107 children.
Holy Ghost is located on Central Avenue in Dubuque.
It's one of Holy Family’s two dedicated childcare centers, which also includes St. Joseph the Worker Early Childhood, located on St. Joseph Street in Dubuque.
Together, the two centers serve approximately 290 infant to school-aged children.
The renovation of both centers is a current strategic priority within the organization’s Platform for Excellence strategic plan and capital campaign.
The campaign is nearing its $25,000,000 goal, which has been achieved through individual and corporate contributions, legacy gifts, as well as grant funding.
