The reward for the capture of a man who killed a sheriff's deputy in Northeast Florida is up to $54,000.
Patrick McDowell is wanted for shooting Nassau County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Moyers during a traffic stop Friday morning.
Moyers died on Sunday afternoon at a hospital in Jacksonville. His fiancée and family made arrangements for his organs to be donated.
More than 200 law enforcement personnel have joined the manhunt for McDowell. The number includes deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office in Georgia.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper didn't hold back words when talking about McDowell over the weekend.
"If you're in a home and he breaks into your home and you have a gun, blow him out the door," said Leeper. "He's like a rabid animal, he will kill you with his mindset. What he did to that deputy is uncalled for and unnecessary and he needs to pay for it."
McDowell is the focus of a Florida Blue Alert, which is used to get information out about a suspect when a law enforcement officer is seriously injured or killed.
The search area is focused on a five-square mile area around Callahan, which is about 20 miles northwest of Jacksonville.
