Local attorney Kenneth Hogan has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Knox County resident judge.

So far, Hogan is the only Republican to join the race. Democrat and Knox County Public Defender David Hansen recently announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination.

Early in his career, Hogan was a judicial clerk to then Third District Appellate Court Justice Kent Slater. Hogan also served as a legal advisor to the Illinois Secretary of State, presiding as a hearing officer in administrative hearings. Later, Hogan represented children as attorney and guardian ad litem in Cook County Juvenile Court. Since then, Hogan has undertaken — in addition to his private practice — a number of court-appointed roles in Knox County and surrounding counties, including appointments in felony cases, juvenile cases and domestic-relations matters.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Galesburg attorney David Hansen has announced his candidacy for Knox County resident judge earlier this month.
