NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — Multiple law enforcement agencies in south Georgia are searching for a man who they say shot and killed a Jacksonville deputy and also shot a K9 deputy.
Nassau County Deputy Joshua Moyes, 29, was shot twice during a traffic stop on Friday and died of his injuries Sunday. The suspect, Patrick McDowell, also shot a Jacksonville K9 officer.
Police said McDowell then ran away from the scene.
There is now a manhunt in the area for McDowell, who the sheriff’s office has described as ‘armed and dangerous.’ Nassau County is on the Georgia/Florida border, so authorities believe it is possible that he is in Georgia.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office has sworn in the Georgia State Patrol, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the Camden and Charlton counties’ Sherriff’s offices, which gives them the authority to make an arrest in the case.
McDowell, 35, is described as six feet and 170 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen in black tshirt, camouflage shorts and black shoes.

Deputy Moyes was engaged and planning a wedding with his fiancée. His family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses. The family decided to donate his organs.
