There’s no denying the tenacity or craftiness of a mother animal whose babies require rescuing. Sometimes, she might need a little help from humans, but oftentimes, like the mama raccoon in the video, she takes matters into her own paws. The video above was recorded by a police officer in Missouri when he noticed a peculiar sight. As you can see, the baby on the street had been separated from their mama and sibling.

What seemed like an impossible rescue became possible through the awesome power of teamwork and a mother’s love. Mama raccoon and the sibling worked together like a pair of heroes — a dynamic duo if you will. In this heart-pounding rescue, the stranded baby’s sibling held tight onto his mother’s feet as she dangled off the side of the concrete wall to reunite her family. We can barely fathom how awestruck the officer who witnessed the daring rescue in person must have been, but we hope he brought it to the precinct’s attention because those raccoons deserve a medal for ingenuity.
