An Amazon delivery driver in Houston would have had his van stolen if a witness didn't step in to stop the crime.

The crime happened on June 9 but the Houston Police Department only recently shared surveillance video of the brazen robbery.

The delivery driver stopped at a home in the 200 block of Garrotsville around noon when two men wearing masks ran up to him as he tried to leave the van, according to Houston Police.

One of the men said he had a gun in his pocket and forced the delivery man to back away from the van as the thieves got in. The two thieves attempted to drive away, but there was a neighbor's SUV blocking their exit.

"I didn’t want them to steal it. It angered me so much," Abraham Martinez told KHOU.

Martinez was nearby when the robbery went down. He decided to step in because of his family's history with crime. In 2016, his 4-year-old granddaughter Ava Castillo was shot and killed in a robbery.

“I don’t like these people who come and do this. That’s why," he told the station.

Martinez was able to stop the robbery, but the wannabe criminals jumped out of the van and ran off before cops arrived. Police are still searching for the two suspects, who are described as Black men between the ages of 25-30 and 5’10 to 5’11. Both men have multiple tattoos, but one of the suspects has a cross next to his left eye and other facial tattoos.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Houston.
