Taylor's removal from the 40-man roster clears a spot for lefty pitcher Reiver Sanmartin, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville ahead of his scheduled start Monday against the Pirates. After being claimed off waivers from Cleveland in the spring, the 31-year-old Taylor has played exclusively for Louisville in 2021, slashing .234/.341/.335 across 233 plate appearances.
